YOU SHOULD READ THESE TITLES

By: Stacey A. Giulianti, Owner, Lauderdale Comics

As a comic book shop owner, I am provided countless samples, summaries, concept stories, and trade paperbacks — many of which look good to me.  Occasionally, there are titles that appear fantastic, and are worth mentioning to you, our loyal customers.  My team and I always encourage our customers to try new titles, and to reach out and subscribe to those titles once they find a gem.  Here are my latest suggestions and musings in the world of Comic Books!

ANALOG #1 from IMAGE COMICS
Five years from now: the security of the internet has been totally destroyed. Secrets are no longer sent over the web, they’re entrusted to armed couriers called “Ledger Men,” like human punching-bag Jack McGinnis. He’s got a gun in one hand and a briefcase handcuffed to the other. Danger lurks around every corner, and Jack has to watch his back-because he had a part in the cyber attack that changed the world. Get in on the ground floor of this new ongoing series and thrill as we slam Jack’s fist into the faces of spies, mercs, fascists, and eventually less punchable adversaries like a very grumpy artificial intelligence. From your new favorite artist, DAVID O’SULLIVAN, The New York Times bestselling author of such indie titles as Deadpool, Star Wars: Chewbacca, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Uncanny Avengers.  This is one that Lauderdale Comics recommends highly.
DEMI-GOD #1 from IDW PUBLISHING
By Ron Marz and Andy Smith
The next Ominous Universe title is here! With great power comes great… wait, how does that go again? Demi-God is a contemporary superhero tale like no other. When irresponsible slacker Jason McAndros suddenly gains the power of a god, the fourth wall isn’t the only thing he breaks! As Jason revels in his newfound might, he begins calling himself Hercules and indulging in his every whim.
* What do you get if you mash up Deadpool and the Mighty Thor? This guy!
* New-school storytelling with an old-school superhero!
* Hercules? More like Jerkules, am I right?
* Ron Marz and Andy Smith cut loose!

Lauderdale Comics is psyched for this title — get in on the ground floor!

Sword Daughter #1 from Dark Horse

The Forty Swords came at night and murdered the entire village, save for two people: the infant Elsbeth and her grief-stricken father, Dag. Setting off on a revenge quest that will span the width of Viking Age Europe, they find the key to repairing their damaged relationship lies in the swords they carry. Created by Brian Wood (Northlanders, The Massive, DMZ) and Mack Chater (Briggs Land, Lazarus), Sword Daughter is a visually stunning, emotionally poignant story of parental guilt and acceptance of loss.

o A Viking revenge saga inspired by Lone Wolf and Cub.

o 28 page issues!

o Deluxe cover stock.

Lauderdale Comics is extremely excited to see Brian Wood writing this amazing concept story, and we think it will be an underground hit.  Call us to subscribe!
